The Gefell M 297 is a precision wide cardioid condenser pencil microphone with an extended bandwidth for the utmost in natural sound reproduction. Derived from Gefell’s test, measurement and instrumentation division, the M 295 employs a pure 0.8 micron nickel diaphragm in a ceramic housing for temperature-stable performance. The extremely low membrane distortion of the pure nickel diaphragm even when subjected to extreme sound pressure levels assures a color-free reproduction of the source.
The physically small dimensions of small membrane transistor microphones lendthemselves particularly well to applications where minimum impact on the sound field isdesired. They benefit from low self-noise and exceptionally low distortion at highoutput levels, allowing extremely close proximity to very loud instruments. Smallmembrane capsules are made from synthetic materials, or extremely thin metal that, incombination with a pressure gradient capsule, results in an exceptional transientresponse. The small physical size of these microphones is well suited to the formationof multi-channel microphone arrays for stereo and surround recording , and allows theirpositioning anywhere where an optically unobtrusive microphone is needed. And finally, modular construction can offers excellent flexibility by the use of interchangeablecapsule systems, and preamplifiers.
