The Hand Wired version of the San B Overdrive is constructed using a turret terminal circuit board. This type of construction has been used in vintage amps and effects. It is a very reliable method of circuit board construction that is logical and repairable. The Low Gain version (comes in Fuzz Gold) is great as a clean boost to mid-gain overdrive. The controls are Volume, Tone and Gain. The Bright switch cuts the low end for a tone that cuts through the mix. The Tone control works as a high cut control. When the Tone knob is at max, the control or the high is at unity. To achieve a brighter tone at this setting, you can engage the bright switch. The Tone control helps to cut down the grittiness at a higher gain setting and allows you to get a smoother tone. The buffer switch allows the pedal to be buffered or true bypass. The buffer circuit opens up the overdrive tone and characteristics while preserves the integrity of the guitar signal even when the pedal is bypassed. For those looking to use the pedal as strictly true-bypass, just flip the buffer switch off and the buffer circuit is completely bypassed. While the pedal would sound great on its own, it can be perfect for someone looking to use the pedal as a clean boost or a mid-gain drive to push the amp further.

King of Tone

Analog Man, in collaboration with Jim Weider, have come out with the pedal we have been looking for for many years - the King Of Tone (KoT). There are many overdrive pedals on the market, but none of them have been quite right, preserving the tone of the guitar and adding the right amount of overdrive without compromise. There are some good clean boosts available, but they just don't have enough drive to really give your amp the distortion you often want. There are some newer OD pedals that have a great frequency response, but to me they sound too DRY, a bit sterile and cardboardy. There are also some nice sounding pedals available but their sound is too "saturated", losing the touch and feel of your guitar. That is where the King Of Tone pedal comes in - it has enough warm overdrive but still preserves the tones of your quality guitars and amps. If you are looking for a big change in your sound, or a lot of distortion, this is probably not the pedal for you.

El Rey Dorado

The El Rey Dorado is your go-to box for that Plexi tone. Yes, there is a wide range of 1960s Plexi Amp Tone in terms of power, which tubes are installed, which speakers and/or cabinet is used, but the El Rey Dorado hits the core tone bullseye! One of the many reference points for the tone was my own JTM 45/100® full stack. (It’s a dead-on reissue Marshall® did with crazy cool custom-made–vintage-recreation speakers and dual transformers to transfer the load of the 4 EL-84s!) The El Rey covers a lot of classic British amp tones by featuring two gain modes with the Power Toggle. With the Power Toggle switch you have control over the compression and harmonics. Low Power mode is louder, has more girth, and has fewer harmonics for a more old-school tone. The High Power mode has more compression, more harmonics, and a tighter, more defined tone. Old-school crunch in Low Power mode, super lead tones in the High Power mode.

Bonsai

In the late 1970's the overdrive pedal was arguably perfected when Japanese engineers designed the sound that we now know as the heart and soul of so many of our favorite artists, recordings and sounds. Players ranging from The Edge, Trey Anastasio, Buddy Guy, Kirk Hammett, John Mayer, SRV, Carlos Santana and thousands more from every possible genre have utilized and depended on this classic iconic green box. If a single effect pedal was chosen to board a Voyager 3 mission and be solely responsible for showing the universe the sound of overdrive, it would undoubtably be Tube Screamer. It is probably the most produced and sold pedal in the history of guitar pedals! The Bonsai is our tribute to one of the greatest pedals ever created. Following in the steps of our Muffuletta (released 2015), the Bonsai utilizes a simple rotary knob to switch through nine classic, vintage, rare, or hard to find variations of the Screamer. Creating the Bonsai became an archeological dig of sorts that sent us deep into the history of this circuit by examining dozens of versions, variations and replications. At the end of it all, Josh chose nine of his personal and favorite units and we painstakingly replicated every nuance and aspect of each pedal. One of the most challenging parts of this project was accounting for component drift as many of these pedals were decades old and the internal components had strayed from their original values. Each pedal was individually replicated using our Audio Precision analyzer and various other methods that allowed us to perfectly replicate every aspect of the sound and feel of the unit. It's important to know that the Bonsai is not a "box of mods," it is exact replications of these nine units all housed in one box! The Bonsai is exact replication, not emulation. When you choose a mode on the Bonsai rotary, you are actually activating components specific to each mode and playing the unit that Josh chose along with all the quirks, drift, vintage mojo, and individuality that a vintage pedal has.

The JHS Pedals AT is Andy Timmons signature overdrive pedal that gives Andy his unmistakable lead and rhythm tone. Upon purchasing a JHS Angry Charlie in 2013, Andy began using it as his primary tone and soon after got in touch with Josh Scott about modifying it for his needs.
