Hand Drums

Hand drums are very popular in styles of music such as Latin American music, Caribbean music, African music, and others. Some very common hand drums are djembes, congas, and bongos. Hand drums are played by striking the top of drum with the hand in different hand arrangements to stretch the skin of the drum and compress the air within. The compressed air creates sound waves by moving back and forth within the drum.
