Haven
The Haven adds slightly improved form and functionality to the classic approach of the Stetson. Originally intended to provide a modern look for jazz bassists when it was introduced in 1960, this offset body shape now has a post modern form that will captivate not only your eyes, but your heart as well. The slimmer neck profile and dual pickups increased playability and versatility. This has made it a favorite for such legends as the jazz great Jaco Pastorius and the standard for many modern bassists. Our stock model features a traditional lightweight ash body, two hand wound single coil pickups, and your choice of a rosewood or maple fretboard.
Stetson
The Stetson is an homage to that first solid body electric bass produced back in 1951. Compared to the stand-up double bass that preceded this compact form, the development of a fretted fingerboard finally allowed notes to be played with "precision". Used by every bassist from the likes of Motown’s James Jamerson, all the way to modern players like Pino Palladino, this bass has become a work horse and has earned its place in history among the true classics. This intrument truly embodies the spirit of a true vintage bass. Our standard model features a traditional lightweight ash body, hand wound split single coil pickup, and your choice of a rosewood or maple fretboard.
Flea Jazz Bass®
Flea's funk- and jazz-influenced basslines helped propel the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the top of the rock and alternative charts while redefining the role of bass in the modern era. Flea's unique playing style brought a welcome breath of fresh air to the musical landscape of the past four decades, inspiring countless bassists to add a funky touch to their sound while exploring new techniques and harmonic possibilities. To celebrate his enduring influence, we've recreated his prized Shell Pink '61 Jazz Bass that he received from a fan and used to record the Peppers' Stadium Arcadium and The Getaway, as well as with the supergroup, Atoms For Peace.
'70s Jazz Bass®
From hard rock to slap-and-pop funk, the '70s Jazz Bass captures the essence of the 1970s with striking looks and a bright, full sound still prized today by bassists everywhere. That decade saw the bridge pickup moved closer to the bridge, creating a brighter, more cutting tone, and the elegant addition of neck binding and block fingerboard inlays. That's all offered in this authentically styled instrument loaded with vintage vibe and modern performance.
American Professional Jazz Bass® Fretless
At Fender, we live and breathe electric instruments. We never rest—pushing craftsmanship to its limits, we design, test and endlessly experiment to create the best instruments on the planet. The Jazz Bass, a refinement of concepts first introduced in the Precision Bass, is the earliest example of this philosophy in action. Evolved for today's musician, the American Professional Jazz Bass Fretless combines modern features and materials with Fender's craftsmanship and expertise to produce a truly contemporary bass.
Classic Series '60S Jazz Bass® Lacquer
With great sound and style, the Classic Series'60s Jazz Bass Lacquer captures the essence of the decade in an instrument as great sounding and groundbreaking as the era it debuted in. From Motown to British Invasion and from U.S. garage rock to late-'60s heavy rock and soul, this vintage-vibe beauty embodies that fantastic era in music, with fast feel, versatile dual-pickup tone and classic Jazz Bass looks featuring a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
American Original '70S Jazz Bass®
Over the course of the ‘70s, the Jazz Bass entered its “teenage years,” changing its visual style and inspiring new playing techniques—such as slapping—which led directly to new, creative forms of expression. Its smooth feel and growly midrange, tempered with a bit of treble bite, made it a hero in recording sessions around the globe. The American Original ‘70s Jazz Bass updates the smooth playing feel with a modern-radius fingerboard, while retaining the classic Fender tone and style that made the Jazz Bass the tool of choice for creative bassists.
American Original '60s Jazz Bass®
Released in 1960, the upscale Jazz Bass quickly found favor among working bassists thanks to its premium appointments and versatile sound. The narrower neck seemed tailor-made for fast, dexterous playing, while the pair of single-coil pickups added a bold new dimension to Fender bass tone. The American Original ‘60s Jazz Bass has all the tone and style of its earliest incarnation, with modern playability.
