The Astrolicious is our collaboration with the amazing Dirge Electronics. It's a bastardized take on the long forgotten Sam Ash Fuzzz Box and Astrotone fuzz pedals. The original effect was pretty underwhelming as far as 60's and 70's fuzz boxes go, so we brainstormed with Evan from Dirge and made this thing nasty. It has tons of output, gets weird with high output pickups, and loves stacking gain.
We've added an input gain stage that has it's own control to get the circuit past it's training wheels. It actually fuzzes now. The tone control has good range and all of the controls are interactive. Your amps and guitars will love this pedal on different settings.
Each enclosure is hand painted, engraved, and finished by Evan of Dirge. The circuit boards were designed and built by Brian of Spruce.
Switchcraft Jacks
High quality true-bypass stomp switches
Enclosure painted and drilled in the USA
Hand wired and assembled in California
High-quality Wima/Kemet/Nichicon capacitors and Xicon resistors
Standard negative ground power
Power
We always recommend isolated power supplies. If you daisy chain effects on one supply (ours can handle that despite being Germanium PNP powered), you may inject noise, ripple, ground loop hum, etc. This effect requires 9v, center negative power. In other words, the industry standard power supply.
Controls
Top-mounted jacks, input on right, output on left
True-bypass stomp switch is on/off, indicated by LED
Top Left is "Master Volume" and controls the overall output of the effect
Top Right is "Input Gain" and controls the amount of gain entering the circuit from the instrument
Bottom Left is "Fuzz" and controls the amount distortion in the circuit
