5 string basses are in become increasingly more popular amongst bass players for a many styles of music. A 5 string bass is very similar to a standard 4 string with the addition of an extra string added. The added string can be a low B string or a high C string. Either way, bass players will have more range of frequency with a 5 string bass over a 4 string.
